Build and Test an Interactive Product Onboarding Tour
Plan a first useful action, build a fictional tour and check the real host integration before launch.

Ask your AI to do it

Help me build a first-action product tour for my authorized app. Start with the Atlas example; check the three-character input and success marker. Ask for real selectors and outcome, then test invalid, pending, success, missing target and keyboard behavior on the host. Do not claim a click proves server persistence or send analytics.
What can this onboarding tour do?
Interactive Tour Studio creates a reusable, target-based product tour. Its local editor previews steps, and its exported files can be integrated into an authorized application. The paid package is USD 4.99; local authoring requires Node.js 24 or newer and a modern browser, with no package installation or paid API.
A tour step can wait for a click, valid input or a visible success marker. These are browser interactions, not proof that a server saved a record or that users completed onboarding.
Practice with a fictional first action
Start the Atlas planning example in the complete package. It opens a local editor and creates a workspace once; choose a new output path for a separate project. The example has five steps: find work, open creation, enter a name, create an item, and inspect the board.
node scripts/start.mjs --preset atlasCheck the name and successful creation separately
The Atlas name step uses an input gate with minLength 3. Try a shorter name and confirm it cannot advance; enter a valid name and continue. The save step targets the create control and waits for [data-tour="notice"][data-created="true"]. Confirm the new fictional item is visible. In your own app, reset the marker before each attempt and show it only after that attempt succeeds.
Integrate on the actual host and test failure states
- Choose stable IDs or data-tour selectors on the actual route. The tool does not discover selectors on arbitrary sites. Copy guided-tour.mjs, tour.css and tour-config.json into the application; use a unique tour ID.
- Exercise invalid, pending, rejected and successful actions against the actual application. Check missing or hidden targets, retry after the screen opens, dialog layering, keyboard controls, narrow screens, pause, resume and reset. Verify persistence independently.
- Save project JSON, integration files and delivery-manifest.json. A configuration change uses a separate local progress key; blocked storage falls back to memory. Local events are not remote analytics.
