Install Claude Code Skills: ZIP, CLI and First Run
Put the complete package in .claude/skills or ~/.claude/skills, confirm discovery and call /skill-name. Compare manual ZIP extraction with the Skillrove CLI.
Fastest way
Ask your AI to do it
Paste this into the AI agent you already use:
Help me install an available Agent Skill. Ask which agent I use and where the package is, review its requirements, choose the supported directory, and verify it loaded. Keep existing folders intact. After installing, show how to run a small example and revoke CLI access when needed.
Use a Claude Code skill directory
This guide covers Claude Code project or personal installation. For Codex and Cursor, use their linked host instructions and the compatibility guide. Choose an available package and keep its supporting files with SKILL.md.
Codex locations and CLI/IDE invocation
Cursor discovery and Cloud scope
Choose project or personal scope
A project folder can travel with the repository; a personal folder stays in this machine’s scope. Unzip so SKILL.md is directly inside the named skill folder, not inside a second copy of the package directory. Check cloud and Cowork sources separately.
Claude Code locations and /name invocation
| Scope | Complete path |
|---|---|
| This repository | .claude/skills/SKILL_SLUG/SKILL.md |
| Projects on this machine | ~/.claude/skills/SKILL_SLUG/SKILL.md |
Download and review a ZIP
Download from the released skill page after the required account authorization. Inspect the archive and extract its complete contents to a new directory. Manual extraction needs no Skillrove CLI, but running the package still needs its documented dependencies.
Review the CSV package and first-run requirements
Install with an explicit CLI target
Read the standalone installation instructions and review the downloaded CLI. It requires Node.js 24+. The login command starts browser device authorization; sign in yourself and keep the token private. The install command accepts a skill slug and an optional new directory. If omitted, the current CLI defaults to .agents/skills/SKILL_SLUG, so specify .claude/skills for Claude Code.
Skillrove CLI download and authorization instructions
node skillrove-cli.mjs login
node skillrove-cli.mjs install csv-story-report .claude/skills/csv-story-reportConfirm discovery and invoke the named skill
Ask What skills are available? and check the package name. Current Claude Code watches normal skill directories; a newly created top-level directory can require /reload-skills. Invoke a user-invocable package with /csv-story-report, then read its first-run steps. Do not infer successful execution from discovery alone.
Follow the CSV reporting practice steps
Diagnose discovery separately from execution
Check access and archive integrity separately
Free downloads require a verified account; Premium downloads need a confirmed purchase or active membership. The current CLI checks the server-provided SHA-256, bounds archive sizes, rejects unsafe paths and refuses an existing target. It writes package files without executing their scripts. These checks do not certify workflow compatibility or replace reviewing the package.
