Build a Podcast Website with Audio, Chapters and RSS

Build a listening home from permitted audio, verify real playback and byte-range seeking, then review feed enclosure URLs before a separate hosting or directory submission.

Fastest way

Ask your AI to do it

Paste this into the AI agent you already use:

Use Podcast Publisher Studio to create a listening site from permitted actual audio. Confirm chapters, transcript or listening-note status and the HTTPS hosting base. Test real playback, seeking and Range responses, reconcile RSS media URLs and bytes, and distinguish generated files from directory publication.

Does the podcast skill create a working audio site?

Podcast Publisher Studio v1.0.1 creates a static audio site with episode pages, chapters, search, a docked player, a queue and RSS files. Its Node.js 22+ generator runs locally without an API key. It copies permitted local audio or synthesizes the included instrumental examples; it does not record interviews, transcribe speech or submit a show to a directory.

Bring actual audio and distinguish transcripts from listening notes

  • Read references/media.md. Supply approved media, complete episode descriptions, strictly increasing chapter times and the intended credential-free HTTPS publishUrl. A permission flag is an input assertion that still needs review.
  • PCM WAV duration and waveform are measured. MP3 requires separately checked duration and RMS waveform values; header recognition does not decode compressed audio. Check playback and chapter timing against the actual file.
  • The fictional SIGNAL / NIGHT example has three synthesized listening studies totaling 162 seconds. They contain no guest interview or spoken transcript. Use listening-notes for instrumental material instead of inventing dialogue.

Generate the site and use its range-aware preview server

Run from the installed package directory after reviewing SKILL.md. Generate into a fresh folder, then open http://127.0.0.1:5372/. Stop the preview server with Ctrl+C.

node scripts/build-podcast.mjs --input examples/show.json --demo --output ./practice-podcast
node scripts/serve.mjs --root ./practice-podcast --port 5372

Test actual audio and the bytes behind the feed

  • Start and pause real audio; seek by chapter, skip, change speed and reorder/remove queued episodes. Reload to check best-effort local resume. A moving playback indicator alone is not evidence that audio loaded.
  • Check a Range request returns 206 with the correct Content-Range and requested bytes. A server can play audio yet fail to seek before the full download. Repeat this check on the intended media host.
  • Inspect RSS enclosure URLs, content types and byte lengths against delivered media. Read chapter CSV, episode JSON, notes and the manifest. Search an absent term, inspect narrow layouts and keep unpublished/private material out of public files.

Does generating RSS publish a podcast?

No. Host the approved site and media at the reviewed publishUrl, then validate the target platform codec and feed requirements. The WAV examples work in a browser; a directory may require a compressed format or more metadata. Submission, newsletter delivery and analytics are separate integrations. Local resume data is not audience analytics.
