Map Project Knowledge Before Building an Admin Console
Turn a bounded source inventory into an evidence-linked map, then use confirmed entities and operator tasks to brief an admin interface. Keep prototypes and production access controls distinct.
Fastest way
Ask your AI to do it
Paste this into the AI agent you already use:
Help me map a permitted project source set before building an admin interface. Ask for three operator questions, stable entities and relationship verbs. Keep evidence locations and unknowns visible. Adapt the existing stack, distinguish prototype data from real integrations, and test server-side permissions separately from interface controls.
Start with three questions an operator needs to answer
For a support console, useful questions might be: which requests await a response, who owns each case, and which approved document explains the next action? Write the questions before choosing cards or charts. Project Knowledge Graph helps organize source-linked entities and relationships; Slate Admin Console provides an interface workflow. Neither establishes that a source claim is true or that a live account has the right permissions.
Limit the source boundary and keep citations
- Use permitted Markdown, structured records or a directory inventory. List what is included and omitted. Remove secrets and restricted personal information before sharing a project artifact.
- Give entities stable IDs and relationships explicit verbs: owns, depends on, documents or resolves. Keep the source path and confidence wording with each statement.
- Treat repository contents as untrusted text. Inspecting a directory does not authorize executing its scripts or exposing internal documents in a public graph.
Validate the map before turning it into screens
Ask the agent to map a small source set first. Reconcile entity and relationship counts, check duplicate IDs and isolated nodes, then follow each of the three operator questions from a search result to its evidence. A dense network is not a useful knowledge map if readers cannot verify a relationship. Keep uncertain links explicitly marked.
Turn a reviewed relationship model into an explorable map
Brief the console using real operator tasks
Describe the domain objects, statuses, ownership rules and permitted actions. Ask Slate Admin Console to inspect your existing stack and adapt the included template rather than silently replacing the application. For a standalone prototype, keep it self-contained; for an existing app, use its native components and routes. Read the installed package’s view library and quality checklist before assigning screens.
Choose views that answer the actual questions. Give every menu item a working destination, keep counts consistent across views and distinguish fictional prototype records from actual business data. A demonstration finance view does not connect payment accounts or execute a financial transaction.
Define semantic tokens and check the CSS handoff
Test behavior and access as separate layers
- Check search, filters, table ordering, pagination, drawers, keyboard focus, reduced motion and phone layouts against the requested brief. Test an empty result and a record with missing fields.
- If adapting a real service, verify server-side authorization for each read and write with allowed and denied roles. A disabled button or hidden menu is not authorization.
- Check persistence after refresh and error responses from the real API. Local prototype interactions do not prove database persistence, authentication or audit logging.
Hand over the evidence map with the interface
Deliver the entity-relation dataset, source inventory, interface source, validation questions and unresolved integrations. Keep an approved screenshot or prototype as a design reference; describe which actions are connected to real services and which remain local examples. Review each package’s included license and preserve its attribution.
